The Comeback Special
Written by Ian Salmon

“Given the choice, Robbie would rather not talk to the dead.
And definitely not to this bloke who claims he’s the ghost of Elvis”
Welcome to The Comeback Special, a story that exists in a mythical, magical place called Fazakerley and tells the tale of a pair of scallies, a lot of weed, a ridiculous amount of swearing and the ghost of somebody who may (or may not) be ‘The King of Rock’n’Roll’.
Robbie has a power. It’s not a unique power, his nan had it too; in a lot of ways all this is his nan’s fault. If she’d listened to the ghost in the white jumpsuit maybe Robbie wouldn’t have to. But then the fame, the fortune, the girl, and the lad who wants to kill him wouldn’t be there and he’s more than happy with three of those things.
The Comeback Special is the Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize 2015 Highly Commended Award winning play from Ian Salmon, writer of the multiple five star reviewed Those Two Weeks and Venus Rising and author of They Say Our Days Are Numbered and The Legacy.
“As we have come to expect, there’s not a word out of place in Ian Salmon’s excellent dialogue, and he again shows his very individual way of telling an important story whist keeping the action lively and light-hearted. Whether it’s the uproarious comedy, the sharp tongued text or the story’s heartfelt spirituality, there’s something to please everyone in The Comeback Special.” (Nigel Smith - goodnewsliverpool.co.uk)
