Downstairs was the original theatre bar of the Royal Court, included in the original design of 1938. Its stunning art deco interior dates from this period and was modelled on the Queen's Salon, the first class lounge from the Queen Mary ocean liner, hence it's original name The Queen Mary Bar.
After falling into disrepair in recent years, the Queen Mary has now been extensively refurbished and rechristened Downstairs. With sumptuous period furniture, ceiling-high mirrors and a baby grand piano that is regularly played to entertain our customers, the bar has been restored to its former glory.
